There are many names and many attributes given to our God. One is provider. At the sacrifice of Isaac God provided a ram in place of Abraham’s son. “Abraham called the name of that place The LORD Will Provide, as it is said to this day, “In the mount of the LORD it will be provided.”(Genesis 22:14) When we think of God as our provider we usually think in terms of material needs, house, income, and so forth. Out of grace He does give many of these things, but they are not the center of God’s provision. Provision begins with the life He has given us in Jesus Christ. Then the indwelling presence of His Holy Spirit as our guide and strength in all life. By His presence with us He provides wisdom and words to speak when needed. He provides situation throughout our days for us to grow in grace. He provides forgiveness and cleansing in our failures. His provision extends to things that we will only learn of when we enter heaven. For all of this we bow before Him in thanksgiving, and yield ourselves to Him even more in trust.
