Good Morning October 30

“It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—
not by works, so that no one can boast.”(Ephesians 2:8-9) We emphasize the truth in our Christian faith that we are saved by the act of God’s pure grace with no work on our part. We have done nothing to earn our salvation. It is a free gift through faith in Jesus Christ. However, that doesn’t mean that we then do nothing. Verse 10 says, “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Having been saved by God we then want to live and act in ways that glorify Him. That means respect for self as a child of God, respect for others as God’s creation, respect for spouse as God’s gift, and teaching children to respect so they grow in God honoring ways. Having respect for other is not unique to Christians, but Christians have the greatest motivation in God’s grace to live a life of respect toward all.
