Good Morning February 10

We’ve just recently had the energy audit of our home recommended by the power company. This is the process where they seek to detect all of the air leaks using an infrared camera. We have lived here for seven years. Loved our home; been comfortable even if a little chilly on cold winter days; and thought everything was fine. The infrared camera tells a different story. Warm areas on a picture show up in red or yellow. Cold areas show up as blue. The camera showed that we are full of areas, seams, and crevices that are letting cold air in. We will certainly have it taken care of, and anticipate being even more comfortable in future winters. As with so many things in life, it is a parable pointing to a deeper and important truth. We go along in life thinking we are fine, accepting the things that surround us as normal. It is only when we take a serious look into God’s Word that we begin to realize that our normal is not what God created life to be. Through Scripture the Holy Spirit shows us the places we need to bring before Him in repentance and for a new direction. “The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.”(Ps.103:8) But discernment, the infrared camera of God’s Word, is essential lest we get very cold in this fallen world.
