Good Morning
The dictionary on my desk was one of the first books I was required to purchase in college. That was 50 years ago! The broken backing and ragged pages remind me of its age. Many other things around the house are similar reminders of many years past, including, as my wife points out, some of the clothes I still wear. We don’t always like all those years when they remind us of how our bodies are slowing down. But at least two things are rich blessings because of the passage of time. First, we have gained a bit of wisdom, and by God’s grace, have grown a bit deeper in love with our Lord. And second, we have the assurance that “salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed.” (Romans13:11) The Lord gives us much enjoyment in our time on earth, along with a measure of pain, but all of it is intended to bring us closer to Him. Age reminds us that our “graduation” is approaching, when our joy in the Lord will be made full and complete.
