Thankfulness to our God is an attribute we must remember and cultivate to a greater extent each day. It is our Lord who gives us all we have, even allowing us the next breath we take. We sometimes hear very successful people referred to as “self-made”. That is a myth. They may have used their talents and abilities to gain a place of position and wealth, but there is nothing self-made in this. Moses said to ancient Israel, “You may say to yourself, ‘My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.’ But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth,…”(Deuteronomy 8:17-18) All that we have is a pure grace gift from our Lord. It is our God who gives us strength of days, and doors that are opened, or closed, to opportunities. The habit of thankfulness keeps our eye focused on the Lord where they belong, and a heart that is humble and open to the needs of others. Look around today, and give thanks for all you see.
