After speaking of their endurance in persecutions the writer of Hebrews says, “So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For in just a very little while, He who is coming will come and will not delay. But my righteous one will live by faith.”(10:35-38) We are the ones living in this in between time, the time between Jesus ascension and His coming again to earth. It is a time of struggle and persecution. Whether or not we personally feel persecution, the Christian church worldwide is under great attack. We are called to hold fast to our confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ, letting nothing dissuade us from the truth on which we’ve built our lives. Our hope is in the soon appearing of our Lord. We are righteous by God’s grace through faith in Christ. We do the work of our particular calling day by day, serving those the Lord brings to us. We witness to the life and love of our Lord in our actions toward all others, strengthened by the truth that this could be the day of His appearing.
