Good Morning
Certain dates are indelibly etched in human memory. Today, December 7th, is Pearl Harbor Day, the day the Japanese attacked our Naval base in Hawaii. A “day that will live in infamy” according to President Roosevelt. In more modern years the date of 9/11 will be long remembered. It simply takes the mention of the date and the central events of that day immediately come to mind. We are about to mark another important date, December 25th. Above all dates this one should bring the greatest truth to our minds. I know there are discussion about whether 12/25 was the actual date of Jesus’ birth, but that matters little. 12/25 marks for us the truth that Almighty God loved His fallen and floundering creation so much that He was willing to come into the midst of it Himself, being born of a human mother as we all are, growing in the same way as we grow, and experiencing all that we experience, yet without sin. In so doing He became the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all mankind. Whatever other dates that may stick in mind, it is this date alone in which the content of our eternal life rests.
