It is not enough to believe in God. Many people say they do, but the concepts of God vary tremendously. James, the writer of the New Testament epistle, wrote that “You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that–and shudder.”(2:19) James’ message was to show that belief in a life that is changed. The concept of the God we believe in makes a huge difference in life. Is God near or far off? Is he involved in individual lives, or is He too busy? Does He know the depth of our hearts, or does He pretty much leave us alone? And what does it mean to say that He is holy? Scripture throughout shows us a God who is absolutely holy, and who calls us to be holy. He is a God who wants each and every person to know Him and be a part of Him. To understand His nature of pure sacrificial love, and to be a part of that love. This is the God who has revealed Himself in the person of Jesus Christ in order that we might find redemption and life through Him, that we might stand in His holy presence. This is not just any god as we might conceive him. He is a holy God who has done all that is necessary for us to have a true and abundant life in Him.
