It is striking how one verse of Scripture will stand out with an important comment relating to our current times. Of course all Scripture is inspired by God “and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”(II Timothy 3:16-17) Sometimes God brings one verse to the fore that speaks volumes of truth. I read again Psalm 11 verse 3. “When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?” That is very expressive of our times. Through the media, through court decision, through various pressure groups the foundations of all we’ve understood as good and right are crumbling. Our country was founded, if not on a fully Christian basis, certainly on a belief in God, natural law, and a solid constitutional basis. This has been progressively chipped away creating the secular society I referred to a couple days ago. What can the righteous do? Those of us who still believe in those foundations are no better than anyone else. Nor are we righteous in ourselves. It is only by God’s grace in Jesus Christ that we share His righteousness. What can we do? We can and must hold firmly to our faith in Him. He alone is the rock of our salvation. And by our standing firm maybe others will see and be drawn to this same Rock.
