Good Morning January 13

People spend a lot of money on appearance. Whether it is cosmetics, clothes, or some status symbol, people want to appear proper, good, nice looking, worthy, desirable, competent, of what ever other terms we might use. We value the opinions of others. However, There are only two opinions that really matter. The most important is that of our Heavenly Father. He has redeemed us through the blood of Jesus Christ and called us His children. The Apostle John wrote “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!”(I Jn.1:3) To be accepted by Almighty God because of Jesus is more important than any opinion or honor this world can bestow. The second most important opinion is that which we think of ourselves. This is not to puff ourselves up. That is always false, hollow, and obvious to others. But rather the desire of our hearts is to do and say those things that bring honor to our Lord. That doesn’t mean we never sin, but when we do, we are willing to humbly ask forgiveness of our Lord. John further wrote in that third chapter, “if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God.”(vs.21) Sure, we like to look nice when we get dressed up, but knowing that we have God’s approval, and that we harbor nothing in our hearts that blocks us from Him, not much else really matters. We can’t be better dressed than that.
