Do you ever meditate on our God, who He is, and what He had done for us? We call Him holy, almighty, creator, sovereign over all things. There are no true expressions we can make that equal the magnitude of the greatness of our God. But then we read in John chapter 13, “Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.”(vs.1) The word translated “to the end” means completely, to the uttermost, or eternally. This Almighty and all powerful God, this God who has created all things and is above all things, loves each of us totally, completely, to the very uttermost. John 13 continues with the account of Jesus washing the disciples feet at the Last Supper. At the conclusion in verse 14 Jesus said, “If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.”Of course it is an example for us, but think about the first half of the verse, “I, the Lord and teacher, washed your feet…” This is God! Loving us so much that He was willing to take the position of the lowest house slave so that “we would have a part in His life”.(vs.8) There is no way I can get my mind around a God who would love His created beings that much. I can only fall before Him in holy fear, and humble worship. Think about it.
