Good Morning September 7

One of our county school districts has established a new grading policy beginning with this school year. Teachers can no longer give grades on homework assignments. Further, they cannot give a student a failing grade lower than 50, and if a student did poorly on a test or an assignment they can redo it to get a higher grade. I guess we don’t want to hurt these fragile egos! The problem is that no one told God about this new policy. God’s Word is full of admonitions, corrections, judgments, and punishments. Our God is the God of greatest grace, but His is constantly working shape us and bring us more deeply into His life. That’s the point of grading and correction. God does forgive and give a new start. He always wants the best for us. Sometimes that takes being confronted by a real failing grade. We all need to learn that no means no, and to ignore that has consequences. I think that starts by seeing a zero on a homework paper now and then.
