Good Morning September 13

Computer games are a really big activity for many people. For example, the current craze over Pokemon-Go. People have been known to get into accidents because they were looking at their little screen rather then where they were going. Games can be fun, but the problem is that the they can be captivating, and take up lot of time. It takes a bit of discipline to close it down, and say enough is enough. It is an enjoyable diversion for a time, but it can cut into time better used. Paul wrote to the Colossians “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”(3:1-2) I don’t think this means that we can never play computer games, or that we always have to have “religious” thought in our minds, but it does remind us of the source of our life. “For you have died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God”, Paul continued in verse 3. Games can stimulate the mind, and keep them active, which is good and necessary, but we are reminded that the purpose of an active mind is to draw nearer to the source of life – Jesus.
