It is striking to observe how men are portrayed on TV. We see them either as bungling wimps, sexual predators, or macho men who know how to shoot to kill. This may be a bit of an exaggeration, but it is certainly hard to know what a man is from the media portrayal. Paul, giving his description of what a man should be, wrote, “Husband love your wives as Christ loved the church.” (Ephesians 5:25) No one ever accused Jesus of being a wimp, nor did he ever have to kill anyone. His life was that of sacrificial love, of vision and direction, of forgiving and helping people cleanse the wrong out of their lives. Jesus stood on His knowledge of God’s truth even to the sacrifice of His life. He was always looking forward, giving people strength for daily life, and hope for their future. Contrary to any TV image, Jesus is the model of a man.
