In his wonderful little allegorical book The Great Divorce C.S. Lewis wrote that “There are only two kinds of people in the end: those who say to God, ‘Thy will be done,’ and those to whom God says, in the end, ‘Thy will be done.'” It remains to be seen which one our new President elect turns out to be. Scripture teaches us to pray for and to submit to our governing authorities. That is our daily task. At the same time our hope is not set upon what they will accomplish, but on what the Lord does in and through those who submit to Him. He alone is our ultimate authority, and our true hope.
