The third chapter of the Book of Hebrews begins by saying, “Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling,…” Think about that. When the books of the New Testament were written they were intended to be copied and shared among the churches. These were written for all the members to take seriously and personally. So, you are being addressed and one of the “holy brethren”, and further that you are one who shares in a very real calling from God. You would not be where you are in your faith now, wherever that be, if God the Holy Spirit were not calling and ministering to your heart. Isn’t that astounding?! And then the sentence continues, “consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession;…” Everything we have from God centers in the person of Jesus Christ. I hope you do find these things astounding, because in that wonder we are brought to worship the majesty of our gracious God. As I said, think about it.
