Good Morning July 19

Paul wrote to the Corinthians, “For when I am weak, then I am strong.”(2C.12:10) Now that is counter-intuitive. How can one be strong when they are weak? Yet, this is an important truth for all Christians, and sometimes a hard one to learn. We like strength and power to overcome challenges and adversaries. But for us, that strength is not in ourselves. It is not a part of our natural make up.  It is in our trust in the Lord.  The Psalmist wrote long ago, “The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.”(28:7)  Our strength is in humbly trusting in the infinite strength of our gracious God. Even Jesus, in His human flesh, said, “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing…”(John 5:19) This doesn’t mean that we sit back and do nothing, but rather in everything we do we do it in humble trust of our Lord.
