We want to know! This has become one of man’s chief characteristics. We want an accurate weather forecast. What is the Stock Market projected to do? Reporters declare that the public has the right to know. We explore space because we want to know what is out there. People read their horoscopes to see what the day will bring. There is an insatiable desire to know. This began with our first parents. “When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.”(Genesis 3:6) This is not some ancient myth. This is a truth that has infected mankind ever since. Rather than being willing to trust God for the right timing of His gifts and wisdom we take things into our hands – which usually leads to a mess. Solomon wrote, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6) Maybe we really don’t need to know all that we think we do.
